Version 5.4 adds several new features, including support for replication to MySQL databases running on Windows and Linux operating systems, and support for replicating from Oracle RAC databases. In early February, Vision unveiled an updated version of MIMIX Share. MIMIX Share, as the product is now called, brings a solid reputation for providing real time change data capture (CDC) capabilities, and is likely almost as big of a contributor as the core HA products are to Vision’s bottom line. Vision has recognized this, and that’s why it held onto its flagship cross-platform and cross-database data replication product, which was previously called DoubleTake Share, and which it has now rebranded under the MIMIX brand. And with today’s style of always-on, 24/7/365 commerce, one often lacks the luxury of being able to wait for data to be moved from production databases to analytical data warehouses to extract the insight. Manual data movement processes involving FTP and ETL scripts tend to strain under the weight of massive volumes of transactional data. With three IBM i-based HA products under its wing - including MIMIX and iTERA HA, which are under development, and the old OMS/ODS, which is not – and an AIX version of MIMIX too, the Irvine, California, company sees large potential for growth in the market for HA software among Power Systems users.īut the company also sees strong growth for data replication software, especially in this big data age. Vision Solutions unapologetically doubled down on its Power Systems HA business following the sale of the Double-Take to Carbonite. And with last month’s release of MIMIX Share 5.4, the Windows and Linux data replication story gets better. But the company is still building and supporting software for replicating data to and from these important platforms in real time. Vision Solutions may have moved out of the Windows and Linux high availability market following the sale of its Double-Take business. Vision Bolsters Data Replication, Rebrands Under MIMIX
